A tragic accident occurred on Thursday night in Malibu, resulting in one fatality and two injuries. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department identified Summer Wheaton, a “wellness advocate” and social media influencer with over 100,000 Instagram followers, as the driver of a 2019 Mercedes Benz. Wheaton’s vehicle allegedly crossed the center median on Pacific Coast Highway and collided head-on with a 2020 Cadillac SUV. The driver of the Cadillac was killed at the scene, while Wheaton and a passenger from the Cadillac were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Wheaton, previously a licensed real estate agent, promoted healthy eating and lifestyle choices. Following the incident, her social media accounts and personal website, where she markets her businesses and herself for speaking engagements, were made private. The crash, which happened around 10:20 p.m. near the 2200 block of Pacific Coast Highway, is still under investigation by the Sheriff’s Department.
