In the early hours of Sunday, August 25, 2024, a tragic accident on the northbound I-5 Freeway near Culver Drive in Irvine claimed the lives of two motorcyclists. The incident occurred around 12:11 AM after reports of a large group of over 50 riders were received.
Witnesses indicated that the two motorcyclists lost control and crashed. Several other motorcyclists and vehicles stopped at the scene, with bystanders performing CPR on the injured riders until paramedics arrived.
Despite their efforts, both riders were pronounced dead at the scene by emergency personnel. The freeway was fully closed, and traffic was diverted at Jeffrey Road as authorities investigated the circumstances surrounding the collision.
